- the MacIntyre River was discovered in 1827 by explorer Allan Cunningham and large sheep runs were established on both sides of the river. In 1859 the colonies separated and a customs house was built at the chief border crossing for cattle moving between New South Wales and Queensland. Visit www.goondiwindi.org for more information.
